Porcelain Veneers and Crowns - Michael C. Bell DDS, PC

There is one main type of porcelain crown that Dr. Bell prefers to use in most to all cases known as lithium dislocate … EMAX Impress is the “brand name.” The great thing about this type of material is not only does it have high strength, but there also is no metal to hide, which gives the crown a more attractive appearance and a natural look. We use this material mostly on molars and pre-molars, as well as front teeth. There are some rare cases where Dr. Bell will recommend a full gold crown for strength purposes for those of our patients who will be better served from one and where durability outweighs aesthetics. Dr. Bell always evaluates each case thoroughly and recommends what treatment he feels will suit each individual patient adequately.

  • Very strong
  • No metal to hide
  • Attractive, natural appearance

  • In rare cases, a full gold crown may be required to provide additional strength (the gold is more visible than the white porcelain).
  • The procedure is not necessarily uncomfortable, but it does take slightly longer than a simple cavity filling.

Porcelain Veneers

In most cases, porcelain veneers are the longest lasting and most beautiful way to change the appearance of your teeth. Properly done, they are very conservative of tooth structure, and results can be life-changing for those who want to improve their smile and appearance.

Porcelain veneers offer our patients one of the most impressive cosmetic dental options available on the market today. Using porcelain veneers, we can alter your smile in just about any way you can imagine. Some of the cosmetic issues that porcelain veneers can be used to fix include:

  • Teeth that are too close or far apart
  • Teeth that are not straight
  • Teeth that are cracked or chipped
  • Teeth that are stained or yellowing
  • Providing a more even aesthetic
  • Making small teeth appear larger
  • Making large teeth appear smaller
It usually takes two trips to our office to have veneers placed on your teeth. During the first visit, we will prepare your teeth to receive the veneers by shaving off a small amount of the enamel from around your teeth. On your second trip to our office, we will have the porcelain veneers ready to place on your teeth. These veneers are hand crafted and custom-fitted to your teeth.
